Intro To Hockey

LAHA will be hosting an 18-week Intro to Hockey program beginning Friday, October 7 through Friday, March 2, 2012. This program will focus on skill development without the pressure of competition. The curriculum is designed to introduce beginners to the game's basic skills, such as skating, passing, puck control, and shooting. Children learn through participating in practice drills and informal scrimmages under the direction of LAHA's coaching staff. All coaches are USA Hockey registered/certified coaches.

Zach and Sam

Players 4 to 13 years-of-age are eligible for participation. Children younger than 4 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The cost for 18 sessions of Intro to Hockey for all ages will be $75.00 per player. Any time during Intro to Hockey, if you, your player, and the coaching staff feel comfortable with your player joining the regular LAHA season, you are free to do so, and a proration fee will be established.

House Program

LAHA's House Program is for players of all ages and abilities. These teams are recreational and non-tryout. Each team has a minimal travel schedule, with some travel to Portland, OR. Teams will also have a tournament schedule, which only requires optional participation by the player. These tournament costs are paid separately from LAHA fees and depend on the level of participation.

High School Hockey Program

Jalen

LAHA's High School Program is a club sport with its team members attending all Eugene Area High Schools. Currently our high school team consists of approximately 20 players. These local youths play games between Medford, OR, and Klamath Falls, OR.

Special Hockey Program

LAHA offers a special hockey program. The program is open to any player over age five, male or female, who is physically able to play, but would be unable to participate in any other organized program due to his or her developmental disability.

Special Hockey exists for the enrichment of the athlete with a developmental disability. In addition to physical hockey skills, the program emphasizes the development of desirable individual characteristics such as dependability, self-reliance, concentration, willingness to share, and personal accountability. The game of hockey is used by Special Hockey to develop within each player the characteristics that will help the player be more successful both inside and outside a hockey environment.
