Every year LAHA is fortunate to have a group of volunteers to coach the youth who participate in our program. We welcome applicants from all levels of experience and backgrounds. Before each season, the coaching staff is carefully selected by a committee to make sure each individual is paired with the age/development level best suited to his/her skill level.
The first step in the process is to complete the LAHA Coaching Application, which is then reviewed by the LAHA Board.
To be eligible to coach in the LAHA program, an individual needs to have the following prior to the season's first practice:
- Complete USA Hockey membership (Register for the current season as a coach)
- Register for and complete USA Hockey CEP Level training (must be completed by December 31st, 2026. Depending on your certification level, CEP may not be required.)
- Complete required USA Hockey age group modules (Must be completed prior to start of the season in order to get on the ice!)
- Complete SafeSport training (now required every 12 months from date of last training)
- Complete a background check
Our volunteer coaches are supported by the LAHA Coach-in-Chief, the LAHA Board, and their respective team managers.
